I’ll be working on multiple projects in the fields of HCI, Computational Imaging, and Augmented Reality with some amazing people like Guru Krishnan, Rajan Vaish, Fannie Liu, Andrés Monroy-Hernández, and Tsung-Yu Tsai.

10/3/21 • NASA Space Apps Challenge

Collaborated on the solution for Canadian Space Agency to characterize and classify space objects of interest using NEOSSat (Near-Earth Object Surveillance Satellite). Received certificate of participation signed by the astronaut David Saint-Jacques.

7/15/21 • Snap Creative Challenge Award

Our project was selected to participate in the 2nd Annual Creative Challenge Award with a total of $100,000 in pool funding (between selected teams) + access to the new AR Spectacles.

Shivesh Singh Jadon was awarded 2nd Place at the 14th annual Texas State Undergraduate Research Conference (URC) for the topic ‘Detecting Exercise and Calories Burned Using Human Pose Estimation

Jadon by the TXST research committee for the project ‘Detecting Exercise And Calories Burned Using Human Pose Estimation and Machine Learning Classification, an independent study project under Dr. Vangelis Metsis and in collaboration with Dr. George Koutitas.

Shivesh Jadon, the Lead for Texas State University’s Developer Student Club, recently traveled to the Google Headquarters in San Francisco, California to represent Texas State in The Developer Student Clubs North America Summit.

1/11/19 • Virtual Reality Training Helps First Responders

An interdisciplinary team of Texas State University faculty and students is helping to train first responders using augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) through Just-in-Time VR Training. Working with the Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS), the Texas State group developed a VR training system that helps medics learn about the AmBus, a 20-bed ambulance. The system allows EMTs to train any time in their station house.

8/1/19 • Texas State partners on virtual reality training for first responders

Austin/Travis County EMS got to experience VR training for the Ambus Emergency Medical Service at the Austin Fire Academy. The Texas State team will next be taking the training system to Austin’s SXSW in March and upcoming EMT/EMS conferences in the U.S.

28/3/18 • U.S. Ignite Smart Cities Connect Conference, Kansas City

Texas State University’s multidisciplinary representatives presented at the U.S. Ignite Application Summit. the virtual reality and technology lab, created multiple training prototypes to help AMBUS personnel improve performance and increase confidence in their abilities as EMTs during mass-casualty events. Events such as wildfires, flash flooding and hurricanes put AMBUS personnel in high-stress situations they must be prepared for.

22/3/19 • SXSW Innovation Lab Showcase

Thirteen student teams from Texas State University showcased their research projects at the W Hotel in Austin, Texas during the SXSW Festival. Researchers present a novel system of architecture and implementation that integrates Augmented Reality (AR) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to create a 4D experience that enables users to interact with IoT networks through avatars and holograms.
